Rear Door Exterior Handle: Adjustments
IMPORTANT: The outside handle lock rods allow adjustment of the free play between the outside handle and the door lock.
All free play between the outside handle and the lock must be removed when servicing the handle. Do not operate the outside handle before these
connections are made.
Door Handle Rod Adjustment: Rear Outside
1. Remove the rear door inner trim panel.
2. Remove the rear door water deflector.
3. Use side cutters in order to cut off the outside handle rod-to-lock clip from the lock.
4. Unscrew the remainder of the clip from the outside handle rod.
5. Discard the clip.
6. Install a new clip to the lock.
7. Position the rod in the NEW clip eliminating all free play in the outside handle.
8. Snap the clip closed over the threaded part of the lock rod.
9. Inspect the rear door lock system for the proper operation.
10. Install the water deflector.
11. Install the trim panel.
