Multifunction Turn Signal Lever

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Verify that the lever is in the center of the OFF position.

CAUTION:  Before removing or installing any electrical unit or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with "live"
exposed electrical terminals, disconnect the negative battery cable to help prevent personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or
components. Unless instructed otherwise, the ignition switch must be in the "OFF" or "LOCK" position.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disable the SIR. Refer to DISABLING THE SIR SYSTEM in SIR.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to STEERING WHEEL INFLATOR MODULE REPLACEMENT.
5. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT.
6. Remove the bolts from the lower column cover.
7. Tilt the cover down and slide the cover back in order to disengage the locking tabs.
8. Remove the lower column cover.
9. Remove the bolts from the upper column cover.

10. Remove the wire harness strap.
11. Remove the two wire harness straps from the steering column wire harness.
12. Remove the steering column bulkhead connector from the vehicle wire harness.
13. Disconnect the gray and black connectors of the switch from the column bulkhead connector.
14. Remove the bolts from the turn signal.
15. Remove the bolts from the multifunction switch.
16. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch. Use a small flat-blade in order to compress the electrical contact and move the turn signal and

multifunction switch into position.

2. Verify that the electrical contact rests on the canceling cam.

NOTICE:  Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that
application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the
fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or
other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint
clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these
instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the turn signal and multifunction switch screws. 

Tighten 
Tighten the turn signal and multifunction switch screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).

3. Connect the gray and black connectors of the switch to the column bulkhead connector.
4. Connect the steering column bulkhead connector to the vehicle wire harness.
5. Install the two wire harness straps to the steering column wire harness.
6. Install the wire harness strap.
7. Install the upper column cover.
8. Install the bolts to the upper column cover. 

Tighten
Tighten the upper column shroud cover bolts 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).

9. Install the lower column cover.

10. Install the screws to the lower column cover. 

Tighten
Tighten the lower column shroud cover screws to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).

11. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
12. Install the steering wheel to the column. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT.
13. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to STEERING WHEEL INFLATOR MODULE REPLACEMENT.
14. Enable the SIR. Refer to ENABLING THE SIR SYSTEM in SIR. 
15. Connect the negative battery cable.
