Battery Cable Replacement (Ground)

Removal Procedure

CAUTION:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
CAUTION:  Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

When replacing battery cables be sure to use replacement cables that are the same type, gauge and length.

1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable from the battery.
2. Remove the battery negative cable screw and the battery ground (negative) cable from the frame rail near the underhood accessory wiring junction

block.

3. Remove the transaxle stud nut and the battery ground (negative) cable from the transaxle stud.
4. Remove the battery cable retainers from the engine frame.
5. Remove the battery ground (negative) cable from the wiring harness conduit.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the battery ground (negative) cable into the wiring harness conduit.
2. Install the battery cable retainers to the engine frame.

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the battery ground (negative) cable and the transaxle stud nut to the transaxle stud.

Tighten
Tighten the transaxle stud nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable and the battery negative cable screw to the frame rail near the underhood accessory wiring junction

block.
