Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair
Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the engine mount struts at the engine. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT (LEFT) AND ENGINE MOUNT STRUT

REPLACEMENT (RIGHT) in ENGINE.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. 
3. Place the drain pan under the power steering (PS) pump and the power steering gear.
4. Remove the return hose from the PS cooler pipe.
5. Remove the intermediate shaft lower bolt. Refer to INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT REPLACEMENT STEERING WHEEL AND

COLUMN-TILT.

6. Insert a large flat-bladed tool into the intermediate shaft clamp area slot.
7. Twist the flat-bladed tool in order to spread the intermediate shaft clamp area.
8. Remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.
9. Use a utility stand in order to support the frame rear.

10. Remove the frame rear bolts. Refer to FRAME REPLACEMENT in FRAME AND UNDERBODY.
11. Use the utility stand in order to lower the frame rear to gain access.
12. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR HEAT SHIELD REPLACEMENT.

13. Remove the power steering gear hose clip.
14. Remove the PS cooler pipe from the steering gear.
