Hood Latch Release: Service and Repair

Hood Primary Latch Release Cable/Handle

Remove or Disconnect

1. Open hood.
2. Release cable from latch assembly.
3. Route cable along body rail toward rear of vehicle.

Important

To ensure proper routing and to ease installation of release cable, tie string around cable before removing it from vehicle.

4. Two bolts retaining hood latch release handle.
5. Grommet through cowl opening.
6. Cable through passenger compartment.
7. Cable from release handle.

Install or Connect

1. Cable from release handle.
2. Cable through passenger compartment.
3. Grommet through cowl opening. Apply a mild soap to ease installation.
4. Two bolts to retain hood latch release handle.

Tighten

Bolts to 7 N.m (62 lb. in.).

5. Route cable along body rail toward front of vehicle.
6. Release cable to latch assembly.
7. Close hood.
