Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Master Cylinder
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Electrical connector from fluid level sensor.
2. Drain brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
3. Brake pipes from master cylinder. Plug open pipes to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
4. Two attaching nuts.
5. Master cylinder.
6. Reservoir, if it is to be used on replacement master cylinder.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Reservoir onto master cylinder, as needed.
2. Master cylinder onto power booster.
3. Attaching nuts. Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Brake pipes. Tighten brake pipe fittings to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Fill master cylinder reservoir to full level mark using only Delco Supreme II (GM P/N 1052535) Brake Fluid, or equivalent WT-3 brake fluid.
6. Electrical connector to fluid level sensor.
7. Bleed hydraulic system.
8. Recheck fluid level in reservoir.
