Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

J 35354 Seal Installer
REMOVAL
1. Remove the crankshaft balancer and bolt. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
CAUTION: Do not damage the seal bore or the seal contact surfaces.
2. Pry out the seal with a screwdriver.
INSTALLATION
1. Use the Seal Installer in order to install the seal.

Use the crankshaft balancer bolt with the tool.

Tighten the bolt until the seal is seated in the cover.
2. Remove the Seal Installer.
3. Coat the outside surface of the crankshaft balancer with GM P/N 10522497 lubricant or equivalent.
4. Remove the crankshaft balancer and bolt.
