Fluid Filter - A/T: Service and Repair
Fluid Filter and Seal
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Drain fluid.
3. Oil pan attaching bolts, oil pan and gasket.
4. Oil filter, using long screwdriver to pry filter neck out of seal.
5. Check oil filter seal for damage or wear. As needed, remove seal using tools J 6125-1B and J 23129.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New oil filter and/or seal.
2. Oil pan gasket; may be reused, unless sealing ribs are damaged. If damaged, use new gasket.
3. Oil pan and attaching bolts.

Tighten pan bolts to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Refill transaxle to proper level with DEXRON III fluid.
6. Check oil pan gasket for leaks.
