Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Front End Discriminating Sensor

CAUTION: During service procedures, be very careful when handling a sensor. Never strike or jar a sensor. Under some circumstances, it
could cause improper operation of the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. All sensors and mounting bracket bolts must be
carefully torqued to assure proper operation.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.  See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming

1. The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and the electrical connector.
2. The fasteners from the upper radiator tie bar to the grill (as necessary).
3. The inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor fasteners.
4. The inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor from the vehicle.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. The inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor in the vehicle, ensure that the arrow is pointing toward the front of the vehicle.
2. The inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor fasteners.

TIGHTEN

Fasteners to 12 N.m (8.9 lb. ft.).

3. The upper radiator tie bar to the grill and the fasteners (as necessary).
4. The electrical connector and the CPA.
