Wheel Bearing: Adjustments
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS ADJUSTMENT
1.
While rotating hub assembly, tighten spindle nut to 12 ft. lbs. to insure bearings are properly seated.
2.
Back off nut to the just loose position.
3.
Hand tighten spindle nut, then loosen nut until either hole in spindle aligns with slot in nut. Do not back off more than 1/2 flat.
4.
Install cotter pin, then measure hub assembly endplay. There will be .001 to .005 inch endplay when bearings are properly adjusted.
