Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Manual Steering Gear Replace
1.
Remove two flex coupling flange nuts. Remove coupling shield.
2.
Hoist and support car with stands under outer ends of lower control arms.
3.
Remove nut and use a puller to remove pitman arm.
4.
Remove gear-to-frame bolts.
5.
Position steering linkage out of the way and withdraw gear assembly from under car.
6.
Reverse procedure to install unit.
