DEFECT INVOLVED
General Motors has determined that certain 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight and Ninety Eight model vehicles equipped with a 3800 Series II engine (PRO
L36). may have a deceleration stall under certain specific conditions. This could result in loss of power steering assist. generator and power braking
assist.
To prevent this condition from occurring1 retailers are to replace suspect MEM-CAL of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with a MEM-CAL of an
improved design.
VEHICLES INVOLVED
Certain (not all) 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight and Ninety Eight vehicles equipped with the 3800 Series II (RPO L36) VIN "K" engine within the
breakpoints listed.
NOTICE:
Vehicles within the above VIN breakpoints, which our records indicate have had the MEM-CAL replaced with new part numbers, have been deleted
from the retailer VIN listing.
All vehicles listed on the retailer printout will require correction. Campaign involvement, or campaign completion can be verified by utilizing VISS
(Vehicle Information Service System).
The campaign printout sent to retailers with involved vehicles is for vehicles equipped with the 3800 Series II VIN "K" (RPO L36) engine. The L67
supercharged 3800 engine is not involved.
Should a question arise concerning the campaign involvement of a specific vehicle within the VIN breakpoints listed above, retailers should access VISS
(Vehicle Information Service System) for verification.
Involved vehicles have been identified by Vehicle Identification Number Listings. Computer listings contain the complete Vehicle Identification
Number, owner name and address data. and are furnished to involved retailers with the campaign bulletin. Owner name and address data furnished will
enable retailers to follow-up with owners involved in this campaign.
These listings may contain owner names and addresses obtained from State Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle
registration data for any other purpose is a violation of law in several states. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this listing to the follow-up
necessary to complete this campaign. Any retailer not receiving a computer listing with the campaign bulletin has no involved vehicles currently
assigned.
