Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Fluid Reservoir & Seals
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Depressurize accumulator, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/DEPRESSURIZING HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR procedure.
3.
Drain fluid reservoir, remove return hose, then drain brake fluid reservoir into a suitable container.
4.
Remove fluid level sensor electrical connectors.
5.
Remove reservoir-to-valve block mounting bracket attaching bolt.
6.
Remove reservoir by carefully prying between master cylinder and reservoir.
7.
Remove O-ring seals from hydraulic unit.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Lubricate O-ring seals with clean DOT 3 brake fluid.
b. Torque reservoir retaining bolt to 44 inch lbs.
c. Reactivate Delco-Loc radios by turning ignition and radio to the On position, then pressing the Mute button on the steering wheel
control.
