Comments have been received of noisy wire wheel covers on the 1988-89 Delta 88, Ninety-Eight Cutlass Calais, Cutlass Ciera, and Cutlass Supreme
models.
This condition can be addressed by using the insulation kit, Part Number 25536180, obtained from GMSPO.
Use the following installation procedure:
1.
Remove wheel cover
2.
Prior to installation, wipe centering clips clean of dirt and grease with wax and grease remover or adhesive cleaner.
3.
Remove adhesive tape liner from insulator.
4.
Slide insulator slit toward ring (Figure 1) over outer curl of cover (5 places) where centering clips exist. Press firmly to ensure adhesion.
5.
Slide rubber O-Ring on lock bracket stud.
6.
Install wheel cover.
7.
Inspect wheel cover to ensure no contact to wheel weights.
NOTICE:
To prevent a recurring, noise, do not use a hammer or mallet to install wire wheel covers. This may result in damage to the wheel
cover rim or anti-rotation clips.
