Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
Fuel Rail And Injectors
CAUTION: When servicing the fuel rail assembly, precautions must be taken to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the fuel passages, or
possible damage to the fuel injectors and the fuel pressure regulator may result. It is recommended that fittings be capped and holes plugged during
servicing.
NOTE:

Any time the fuel system is opened for service, the O-ring seals used with related components should be replaced.

Before disassembly, the fuel rail assembly may be cleaned with a spray type cleaner, such as AC Delco X30-A or equivalent, following package
instructions. The fuel rail should not be immersed in liquid solvent.
REMOVAL:
1.
Relieve fuel system pressure, see MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2.
Remove the fuel supply and return lines.
3.
Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
4.
Disconnect the injector wiring harness from the injectors.
5.
Remove the 4 fuel rail mounting bolts.
6.
Remove the fuel rail with injectors.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Install the fuel rail and injectors, tighten attaching bolts to 10 Nm (88 lb.in).
2.
Connect the fuel regulator vacuum line.
3.
Using new O-rings, connect the fuel lines and torque to 35 Nm (26 lb.ft).
4.
Connect the fuel injector wiring harness to the injector connectors.
5.
With ignition ON and engine OFF, check for fuel leaks.
