Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Arming Sensor
1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Remove front seat (passenger seat only if independent).
3.
Bend up carpet retention tabs, then roll back carpet to expose passenger compartment sensing system cover.
4.
Remove screws securing cover, then the cover.
5.
Disconnect arming sensor connectors and remove retaining pins.
6.
Remove arming sensor attaching nuts and the sensor.
7.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install arming sensor with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle. Torque attaching nuts to 88 inch lbs.
b. Ensure sensing system cover to bracket attaching screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
c. Install front seat, then activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
d. Use tester J-36884 to verify proper voltage at SIR test connector by performing steps 22 and 23 of DIAGNOSTIC TESTER SEQUENCE,
refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES/DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
