1. Remove pump inlet hose, connect hand operated vacuum pump to inlet hose, then turn ignition On, Fig. 4.
2. If vacuum pump draws vacuum of 10 to 15 inches Hg, then continues to run for 5 to 10 seconds, check for vacuum leaks in other parts of system.
3. If pump runs intermittently and will not maintain steady vacuum, proceed to step 4.
4. Remove vacuum pump, controller and ``T'' vacuum connector, Fig. 5. Connect hand operated vacuum pump to vacuum switch inlet and apply

approximately 20 inches Hg. If switch leaks down more than 2 inches Hg per minute, replace controller. If switch maintains vacuum, proceed to
step 5.

5. Connect hand operated vacuum pump to pump housing inlet and apply 20 inches Hg of vacuum, Fig. 6. If pump leaks down more than 2 inches

Hg per minute replace umbrella valve. If pump maintains vacuum, proceed to step 6.

6. Connect hand operated vacuum pump to pump outlet, plug pump housing inlet and apply 20 inches Hg of vacuum, Fig. 7. If pump leaks down

more than 2 inches Hg per minute, check for loose bonnet. Repeat test. If pump still leaks, replace piston. If pump maintains vacuum, system is
operating satisfactory.

1. Check all vacuum hoses for leaks and repair as necessary. If no leaks are found, proceed to step 2.
2. With ignition off, disconnect inlet hose from vacuum ``T'' connection, attach hand operated vacuum pump and turn ignition On, Fig. 8. If pump

runs continuously drawing vacuum of 10 inches Hg or more, replace controller. If pump runs then stops when vacuum reaches 10 to 15 inches Hg
system is normal; bleed off vacuum to below 10 inches Hg. Pump should start automatically and run until vacuum exceeds 10 to 15 inches Hg
then automatically shut off.
