Check pump cover for flatness with a straightedge and feeler gauge. If clearance is greater than .001 inch, replace pump cover.

7.

Remove gears and pack gear pocket with petroleum jelly and reinstall gears. The pump must be filled with petroleum jelly to prime the pump.

8.

Place new gasket and cover on pump. Install and torque cover screws to 97 inch lbs.

9.

Install new oil filter.
