This bulletin supplements Emission Campaign Bulletin 85-E-01, with additions or changes to pages 1, 3 and 4.
In the VEHICLES INVOLVED section (page 1), add to the table "or JSL 25521680" directly under "JSP 25525849", and add "or JSA 25519399"
directly under "or JSB 25515392".
NOTE:
The tuneup label information is for reference only. If a vehicle is listed on the dealer VIN sequence list or on V.I.S.S. as requiring the
campaign, and if the "Old PROM Code" & "Old Scan I.D." match the table in the PARTS INFORMATION section, then install the
appropriate new PROM called for in the same table.
In the SERVICE PROCEDURE, the NOTICE in Step (7), on page 3, is revised:
NOTICE:
Small notch of PROM carrier should be aligned with small notch in ECM socket. Press on PROM carrier until it is firmly seated in the socket. Do not
press on PROM, only on the carrier. See Figure 2. On some vehicles, the socket in the ECM may appear to be slightly too narrow to receive the pins of
the replacement PROM; it can be installed, but careful alignment of the carrier is required. It may be necessary to press carefully first on one edge of the
carrier, then on the other edge to start the PROM pins into the socket.
Also, in Step 7, before installing the new PROM, verify the code on the PROM is the same as the new PROM Code specified for that vehicle. A few
reports have been received of mispackaged PROMS.
