Ninety-Eight FWD V6-260 4.3L DSL (1985)
Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Install engine support fixture J-28467 or equivalent. The engine must be properly supported, otherwise, personal injury could result.
3.
Raise and support vehicle.
4.
Support front of vehicle body at forward lift points.
5.
Remove left front wheel assembly.
6.
Drain oil pan.
7.
Remove left side lower control arm to frame bolts and the left side stabilizer bar link. Position control arm out of way.
8.
Remove engine splash shield.
9.
Remove engine mount to frame nuts and the front transaxle to frame nuts.
10.
Raise transaxle until mount studs clear cradle.
11.
Disconnect wiring harness from front frame crossmember.
12.
Remove left side rear crossmember to frame attaching bolts.
13.
Remove right side front crossmember to frame attaching bolts.
14.
Remove left side front body mount bolts.
15.
Remove left and front crossmember assembly.
16.
Remove flexplate cover and starter motor.
17.
Remove engine mount bracket.
18.
Remove engine absorber assembly.
19.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts and the oil pan.
20.
Reverse procedure to install. Apply sealer No. 1050026 or equivalent to both sides of pan gaskets. Torque oil pan attaching bolts to 10 ft. lbs.
