Fig. 11 Timing Chain & Camshaft Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove oil pump driven gear hold down clamp bolt and clamp.
3. Remove oil pump driven gear assembly.
4. Remove camshaft thrust plate screws and thrust plate, Fig. 11.
5. Remove camshaft as follows:

Note that camshaft journals are all the same diameter, so care must be used when removing camshaft to avoid bearing damage.

a. Install a large screwdriver in camshaft bolt hole to help support camshaft.
b. Rotate and pull camshaft out of camshaft bearings.

6. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.
