Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove crankshaft damper.
3. Remove front cover oil seal by prying seal with screwdriver or equivalent, being careful not to damage front cover, Fig. 10.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Lubricate seal with clean engine oil.
b. Install seal in front cover with lip facing engine using front cover seal installer tool No. J 34995, or equivalent.
c. Tighten to specifications.
