Some 1986 Toronado models built prior to serial number GU301144 may not display all of the messages in the instrument cluster to alert the driver of a
system malfunction. This condition does not affect the setting and storing of malfunction codes in the computer memory.
To determine if this condition exists, it will be necessary to do the following:
1.
Disconnect one of the A/C Pressure Switches, (see page 1B1-5 of the 1986 New Product Service Information Manual - Toronado).
2.
Start engine with air conditioning "ON".
3.
Observe Driver Information Display.
If the message "A/C System Problem" or "Low Refrigerant" is displayed, the system is functioning properly. Reconnect the A/C Pressure Switch and
clear the malfunction code from the computer memory using the procedures listed on page 8D10 of the 1986 New Product Service Information Manual -
Toronado.
If there is no message displayed, it will be necessary to replace the EEPROM using the procedures listed in Dealer Information Bulletin 86-I-21.
