4. Insert 3/32 inch gauge pin into service adjustment hole, Fig. 8.
5. Rotate switch until gauge pin can be pressed into a depth of 15/32 inch on 1986 models, or 9/64 inch on 1987---88 models, then secure switch
position by tightening switch mounting bolts.
6. Remove gauge pin, install shift lever and reconnect electrical connector to switch.
7. Ensure engine will only start with selector in ``Park'' and ``Neutral'' positions and verify proper operation of back up lamps.
ADJUSTMENT
1. Position transaxle shifter assembly in ``neutral'' notch in detent plate, then loosen switch attaching screws.
2. Rotate switch on shifter assembly until adjustment hole aligns with carrier tang hole.
3. Insert 3/32 inch gauge pin into adjustment hole to a depth of 5/8 inch on 1987---88 Riviera and Toronado, or 15/32 inch on all other models.
4. Tighten switch mounting bolts, then remove gauge pin.
