Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

Install the injector on the tester as follows:
1.
Close the valve (1)Fig. 2.
2.
Install and tighten proper adapter on the injector, using a copper gasket, and then the assembly onto the tester pipe.
Test the opening pressure as follows:
1.
Open the valve (1) one turn.
2.
Activate the pump lever, 1 stroke every 2 seconds.
3.
The opening pressure should be from 3 to 4.1 bar (43.6 to 59.45 PSI).
4.
If the opening pressure is not within the previous tolerance, replace the injector.
NOTE: The injectors can be replaced individually.
Leak test the injectors as follows:
1.
Loosen the valve to drop pressure.
2.
Increase pressure up to 0.5 bar below the opening pressure read previously.
3.
With this pressure maintained for 15 seconds, no drops should appear on the tip of the injector.
4.
If the injector leaks, replace it.
Check injector operation as follows:
1.
Close the valve.
2.
Activate the pump lever at a rate of 1 stroke per second. The injector should emit a "groan" and the spray should span a cone of approximately 35
°.
3.
If these two characteristics are not confirmed, replace the injector.
