Interior - Wind Noise from Left & Right Front Doors

SUBJECT:

RESEAL 1986 SIDE VIEW MIRROR GUSSETS

SYMPTOM:

The wind noise emanates from left and right front doors caused by:

A)

The attachment of the mirror to the door gusset not being sealed.

B)

The 4 mm hole in the outer door panel, under the gusset moulding, not being blanked off.

CHANGES IN PRODUCTION

-

The fitting of a polyurethane foam filler in the center of the gusset.

-

The deletion of the unused 4 mm hole.

SERVICE REPAIR PROCEDURE

-

Remove the side view mirror.

-

Fit a 50 mm diameter and 20 mm thick blanking plug (1) P.N. 9033.44 in the center hole of the gusset with the closed (black) side facing
outwards.

-

Seal the 4 mm unused hole (a) with caulk sealer.

-

Reinstall the mirror.
