Vacuum Amplifier: Testing and Inspection

1.

Disconnect hose from front port of vacuum converter.

2.

Connect a suitable vacuum gauge to the disconnected hose.

3.

Start engine and check vacuum gauge reading. Vacuum gage should indicated 13-14 inches Hg. vacuum.

4.

Disconnect link rod from vacuum converter.

5.

With engine idling, slowly move vacuum converter lever toward the direction of engine acceleration. The vacuum gauge pointer should drop
slowly and smoothly without any fluctuation. If so, proceed to step 7.

6.

If gauge pointer fluctuates, replace vacuum converter assembly.

7.

Connect link rod to vacuum converter.

8.

Connect a suitable tachometer to the engine.

9.

Gradually increase engine speed to 4600 RPM. Vacuum reading should be 0. If not, replace vacuum converter assembly.
