SUBJECT:
VIBRATION AND/OR UNEVEN IDLE SPEED - FIELD FIX
MODELS:
1987 with ZDJL 2.2 Liter Engine
SYMPTOM:
1.
Automatic Equipped Vehicles A vibration and/or uneven idle may be perceived by critical customers when idling in gear.
2.
5-Speed Standard Vehicles A vibration and/or uneven idle may be perceived by critical customers when idling.
DEALER ACTION:
Check all ZDJL vehicles during PDI for idle quality in:
5-Speed - Neutral / Automatic - Drive Correct idle quality by adjusting valves if necessary.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Intake Valve Gap (cold) set to:
0.25 MM + 0.05 + 0
instead of: 0.10 MM + 0.05 + 0
(Field fix specification)
(Normal specification)
Check:
Exhaust Valve Gap (cold) 0.25 MM + 0.05 + 0
Adjust
as required.
NOTE:
A warm engine must be allowed to cool for a minimum of two hours before checking and/or adjusting the valves.
Engine adjustments may be optimized within specifications to reduce the vibration and the unevenness of the idle.
