Rear Shock Absorber Replace

1.

Working inside trunk, remove locknut while holding shock rod.

2.

Remove upper steel cup and rubber bushing.

3.

Working under car, remove lower shock pivot from rear suspension arm.

4.

Remove shock absorber down through suspension arm.

5.

When installing shock absorber, replace rubber washers, upper metal cup, and locknut.

6.

Fully extend shock absorber rod.

7.

Install in following order: thrust cup, rod protector, center cup, rubber washer and nylon spacer.

8.

Under vehicle, position shock absorber placing rod in hole on crossmember.

9.

Install lower shock pivot with new lockwasher. Install nut without tightening.

10.

Working inside trunk, place upper rubber bush, steel cup and locknut on shock rod.

11.

Torque upper locknut to 9 ft. lbs. (1.25 m-kg) and lower pivot nut to 33 ft. lbs. (4.5 m-kg).
