ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS

In order to insure maximum engine longevity and take advantage of newly formulated and improved oils, engine oil recommendations have been revised
and are outlined below. "CC" and "CD" API classification oils are especially formulated to insure Turbodiesel longevity. For   the same reasons, use of
CC and CD oils will insure the longevity of Turbo Gas vehicles.

The attachments contain information which will assist your personnel in discussions with customers regarding the importance of the proper oils in
maintaining their Peugeot vehicles.
OIL

VISCOSITY

Viscosity is a measure of relative oil thickness. Low numbers (e.g. 5) are thin oils, high numbers (e.g. 40) are thick oils. Viscosity is measured at two
temperatures, 0~F and 212~F. "W" after the number, ratings at 212~F do not. Oils having different viscosities at 0~F and 212~F are called
"multi-grade," (e.g. 10W30). At 0~F, 10W30 oil acts like a 10 weight; at 212~F it acts like a 30 weight. Generally, additives called "viscosity
improvers" are used to produce multi-grade oils.

API-OIL CLASSIFICATION

The American Petroleum Institute (API) classifies oils for use in various types of applications and vehicles. Higher grade oils contain anti-sludge,
anti-oxidation, anti-rust, anti-thickening, anti-wear, anti-varnish, and anti-deposit additives.

The API classification and viscosity grades should be shown on all oil cans. If it's not, do not use it. Protect your investment, use a high quality oil. It's
cheaper in the long run.
