Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor

1.

Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.

Disconnect the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor electrical connector.

3.

Remove the throttle body temperature sensor (if equipped) from the throttle body housing.

4.

Remove the Torx head screws (2) from the throttle body.

5.

Remove the AIS motor from the throttle body, making sure that the "O"-ring stays with the motor.

6.

Install new AIS motor using a new "O"-ring.
NOTE:  If the pintle measures more than 1 in. (25 mm), it must be retracted by using Actuator Outputs Test "AIS MOTOR open/close" (Refer to 
Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Procedures).  The battery must be reconnected for this
procedure.

7.

Install the retaining screws, torqueing them to 20 lbs. in. (2 N-m).

8.

Connect the AIS motor wiring connector.

9.

Install the throttle body temperature sensor on the throttle body (if equipped).

10.

Connect the negative battery cable and install the air cleaner.
