Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Module: Description and Operation
The Airbag System Diagnostic Module (ASDM) contains, the safing sensor and energy reserve capacitor. The ASDM monitors the airbag system to
determine system readiness. The energy reserve capacitor stores sufficient energy to deploy the airbag for two minutes after the battery has been
disconnected. The ASDM contains on board diagnostics and will illuminate the Airbag warning lamp in the instrument cluster when a monitored circuit
fault is detected.
