Upper Front Door Frame to Body Opening - Wind Noise
NO.:
23-11-92
GROUP: Body
DATE:
Jun. 15, 1992
SUBJECT:
Wind Noise At Upper Front Door Frame-To-Body Opening
MODELS:
1992 (B8) Summit Wagon/Colt Vista
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some models may exhibit a wind noise at the upper front door frame-to-body opening while driving at highway speeds. This condition may be the result
of excess clearance between the door frame and body opening.
DIAGNOSIS:
1.
Measure the gap between the door frame and the body opening at the wind noise area. To take the measurement, lay a flat metal ruler on the door
frame and slide it up until it hits the body opening as shown in Figure 1. The gap should be between 9/64 in. (3.5 mm) and 13/64 in. (5 mm).
2.
If the gap between the door frame and the body is greater than the given dimension, adjust the door frame as described in the repair procedure.
