DISCUSSION:

The seal ring for the transfer idler shaft was changed, beginning with the 1993 model year, on the F3A21 and the F3A22 transaxles. Prior model years
used a "D" shaped ring on the idler shaft. Beginning with the 1993 model year the seal ring was changed to an "O" ring shape. The groove in the end of
the shaft was changed also to accommodate this new seal ring. Service replacement parts for applications prior to 1993 will be the new O-ring style, and
are not interchangeable unless replaced as a set.
