Colt Vista 2WD L4-1997cc 2.0L SOHC (1984)
1.
Remove the transaxle per the appropriate service manual.
2.
Disassemble transaxle, thoroughly clean, and inspect all parts for damage.
3.
Replace any damaged or worn parts.

Remove the lock nut (Figure 1) from the input shaft and replace it with a new one, along with any parts that require replacement. The new nut is
black in color in the hex area.

Tighten the new nut to 138-156 N-m (102-115 ft.lbs.) and stake as shown in Figure 2.
6.
Reassemble transmission and reinstall in vehicle.
7.
Refill transaxle with 75W-85W gear oil.
NOTE:
IN COLDER CLIMATES 10W-30W ENGINE OIL MAY BE USED FOR TRANSAXLE FILL TO IMPROVE COLD
WEATHER SHIFTING.
8.
Road test vehicle and check for proper transmission operation.
