A. Verify Choke Shim Presence

Remove the air cleaner assembly and plug the vacuum tee.

Using a mirror and flashlight, verify the presence of a shim in the choke linkage between the wax element plunger and the choke adjustment s

If the choke shim is present, proceed to Section C.

Drain about one gallon of engine coolant from the radiator and save for later use.

Remove the throttle return spring.
