Neutral Safety Switch Replacement

1.
Place selector lever in neutral position, then raise and support vehicle.
2.
Hold transmission selector lever and remove retaining nut, then remove manual lever.
3.
Disconnect switch electrical connector and remove retaining screws, then remove switch from transmission.
4.
Install replacement switch over selector shaft, loosely install retaining screws and connect electrical connector.
5.
Install manual lever and torque retaining nut to 22-29 lb-ft, then adjust switch as follows:
a. Ensure shift linkage is properly adjusted and transaxle lever is in neutral (vertical) position, then remove screw from switch alignment hole.
b. Rotate switch body until .079 inch gauge rod can be inserted through alignment hole and switch rotor, then torque switch retaining screws
equally to 4-5 lb-ft.
c. Remove gauge pin and install screw, lower vehicle, then ensure that starter only engages with selector lever in park or neutral.
d. Check operation of selector and switch, and ensure that starter only engages with selector in park or neutral.
