Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair

NOTE:  To service the evaporator coil, expansion valve or the cycling clutch switch it will be necessary to remove the evaporator assembly from the
vehicle.

REMOVAL

1.  Disconnect ground cable from battery.
2.  Install gauge set manifold and discharge the system. 
3.  Remove glove compartment.
4.  Disconnect A/C wiring harness from body wiring harness and A/C clutch switch.
5.  Remove evaporator housing clamps.
6.  Remove two bolts holding evaporator housing to plenum chamber.
7.  From engine compartment remove one which holding evaporator housing to fire wall.
8.  In engine compartment disconnect refrigerant lines from evaporator.

CAUTION:  Always use two wrenches when loosening or tightening tube fittings. Use one wrench to turn fitting and the other wrench to hold
stationary part to prevent.it from kinking or becoming distorted. Cap or plug openings and fittings to prevent dirt or moisture from entering the
system.

9.  Remove condensate drain tube.

10.  Remove evaporator housing assembly from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

Installation procedure is reverse of removal procedure.

CAUTION:  Before installing lines, coat fittings and 0-rings with clean refrigerant oil to assure a good seal. Failure to do so could result in a leak.
Never use any other oil as a substitute. When tightening fittings, use two wrenches.

DISASSEMBLE

NOTE:  To service the evaporator coil, the cycling clutch switch or expansion valve it is necessary to disassemble the evaporator assembly.

1.  Remove assembly from the vehicle.
2.  Remove clips fastening upper housing to lower housing.
3.  Separate upper housing from lower housing and lift off.
4.  Remove cycling clutch switch and capillary tube.
5.  Remove evaporator coil.
6.  Remove spring clip fastening capillary tube to suction side of evaporator coil.
