1982 - 87 REAR WHEEL DRIVE MODELS
1. Disconnect main fusible link in engine compartment.
2. Remove lower instrument panel bezel at steering column.
3. For tilt column on 1982 - 83 Gran Fury, Diplomat and New Yorker and all 1984 - 87 models remove steering column mounting nuts. Drop
column down from instrumental panel, remove screws attaching support bracket to column jacket, unsnap retainer clips and remove
wiring.
4. For tilt column on 1982 - 83 Imperial, Cordoba, Mirada and all standard column applications, unsnap retainer clips and remove wiring.
5. Disconnect speed control switch electrical connector from instrument panel harness connector.
6. On models which incorporate a tilt column, remove terminals from insulator with Tool C-4135.
7. Remove wiper control knob from end of lever.
8. Remove screws attaching speed control switch to column.
9. On models which incorporate a tilt column, attach a flexible guide wire to lower end of speed control switch harness.

On models which incorporate a standard column, remove upper steering column lock cover which is retained by two screws.
11.
Remove switch and harness from steering column.

Reverse procedure to install. For standard steering column, insert harness connector through turn signal lever opening in column and
pull down and out lower end. For tilt column, insert harness wires through turn signal lever opening in column and pull upward through
upper housing.
