Camshaft Bearing: Service and Repair

To remove the camshaft, remove all valve lifters, timing chain and sprockets. Remove distributor and oil pump-distributor drive gear. Remove fuel
pump and see that pushrod has moved away from eccentric drive cam. Remove thrust plate, noting installation position of timing chain oil tab so it can
be installed in the same manner. Withdraw camshaft from engine, using care to see that camshaft lobes do not damage the camshaft bearings.

If camshaft bearings are to be replaced, it is recommended that the engine be removed from the chassis and the crankshaft taken out in order that any
chips or foreign material may be removed from the oil passages.
