Sliding Door & Liftgate Power Lock Motor Does Not Lock And/Or Unlock
MODELS:
1996 (NS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
1996 (GS) Chrysler Voyager (European Market)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Sliding door(s) and/or liftgate power lock actuator(s) may exhibit the following symptoms:
Loud buzzing noise from the actuator and failure to lock or unlock either manually or electrically. The latch/lock control assembly will not function or
liftgate will not lock or unlock.
"Whirring" noise after the completion of the lock or unlock cycle of the actuator (noise can be heard for approximately 1 second).
Failure to lock manually with the key or lock button after electrical operation to unlock. The key cylinder link dislodges from the latch/lock control
assembly if the key is used to lock the door.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes having any of the above symptoms, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the sliding door(s) and/or the liftgate power lock motor(s) as required.

Sliding Door Procedure
SLIDING DOOR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the door upper frame trim molding.
2.
Disengage the clips holding the trim panel around the perimeter of the door and separate the trim panel from the vehicle.
3.
Loosen the screws holding the rear of the stop bumper to the door. Remove the screw holding the front of the stop bumper to the door and separate
the stop bumper from the vehicle.
