DISCUSSION:
When using the diagnostic procedure manual and a low accumulator fault is detected, replacement of the Hydraulic Assembly is no longer necessary
when the dual function pressure switch is the failed part. The dual function pressure switch can now be serviced.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This is the procedure for replacement of the dual function pressure switch.
WARNING:
FAILURE TO FULLY DE-PRESSURIZE THE HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR BEFORE PERFORMING SERVICE
OPERATIONS, COULD RESULT IN INJURY TO SERVICE PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO PAINTED SURFACES.
1.
De-pressurize the hydraulic accumulator by pumping the brake pedal a minimum of 40 times, using approximately 222 N (50 lbs.) pedal force,
with the ignition key in the off position or the negative battery cable disconnected.
2.
Raise the vehicle on hoist.
3.
Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the dual function pressure switch and the boost pressure transducer (located on the bottom of the
hydraulic assembly).
4.
Using a long extension and special tool # 6607, remove the dual function pressure switch from the hydraulic assembly.
5.
The new dual function pressure switch should be thoroughly cleaned prior to installation into the hydraulic assembly. Lubricate the O-ring seals on
the switch with clean DOT 3 brake fluid before installation.
6.
Thread the switch in by hand into the hydraulic assembly until the O-ring is seated to avoid cross threading.
7.
Using special tool # 6607, torque the dual function pressure switch to 12 N-m (9 ft.lbs.).
8.
Connect the wiring harness connectors onto the dual function pressure switch and the boost pressure transducer. Ensure that the tabs on the
connectors are fully engaged.
9.
Lower the vehicle.
10.
Turn the ignition key to the on position, or connect the negative battery cable to recharge the accumulator. Check for any leaks at the dual
function pressure switch.
11.
De-pressure the hydraulic system as described in step 1. Fill the reservoir to the top of the screen with brake fluid.
12.
Recharge the accumulator by turning the ignition key to the on position or connecting the negative battery cable.
13.
Connect the DRB II and clear any stored fault codes.
