THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.3L OR 3.8L ENGINE.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some vehicles may exhibit a condition where the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) resets while the customer is driving the vehicle. If the PCM resets,
it will cause all learned values within the PCM to reinitialize to zero, similar to performing a battery disconnect with the DRB III(R). When this occurs,
the customer may experience a one time harsh miss or buck. The MIL may flash, the speedometer may momentarily drop toward zero, and if the speed
control is set, it may deactivate.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using the Mopar Diagnostic System (MDS) or the Diagnostic Scan Tool (DRB III(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures Manual, verify all
engine/transmission systems are functioning as designed. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) are present, record them on the repair order and repair as
necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If no DTC's are present, learned values were set to zero (adaptive memory, start to run counter,
OBD II monitors, number of starts since set, etc.), or data recordings were taken that confirm this occurrence, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves disconnecting and removing the knock sensor from the vehicle and taping the harness against the main bundle.
1.
Disconnect the knock sensor wire (Figure 1).
2.
Tape the wire back to the main bundle with the connector facing downward to prevent moisture/dirt collection.
NOTE:
BUNDLE THE WIRE APPROPRIATELY TO PREVENT IT FROM HANGING LOOSELY IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
