Shift Cable: Adjustments
3 Speed Automatic

When disconnecting cable from levers use new grommets during reassembly. Use a prying tool to remove rod from grommet, then cut away old garment.
Use pliers to snap new grommet into lever and rod into grommet.

1. Set the parking brake, then place selector lever in Park position.

2. Loosen clamp bolt on gearshift cable bracket, Fig. 2.
3. Ensure preload adjustment spring engages fork on transaxle bracket, then pull the shift lever to front detent, Park position.
4. Tighten to specifications.
5. Check adjustment as follows:

a. Detent for Neutral and Drive should be within limits of hand lever gate stops.
b. Key start must occur in Neutral or Park only.
