This service requirement applies only to 1988 model year Plymouth Horizon, Sundance, Reliant and Caravelle; Dodge Omni, Shadow, Aries, Lancer
and 600; and Chrysler LeBaron Sedan and LeBaron GTS vehicles equipped with a 2.2L throttle body fuel injected engine, automatic transmission
and Federal emission control system currently located in a high altitude state (Colorado, New Mexico; Nevada, Utah).

Carbon Monoxide (CO) levels for the listed model vehicles may exceed the limits allowed by Federal Emissions Standards. To correct the condition,
the Powertrain Control Module (Single Module Engine Controller) must be replaced.

Removed Powertrain Control Modules must be returned to the Warranty Material Return Center.
Parts And Labor Information
PARTS
Important:
A quantity of parts will be distributed initially and billed to all involved dealers. This quantity will cover a portion of the total vehicles involved.
Additional parts may be ordered as needed to support customer demand.
Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same street address), will receive enough Oxygen Sensor
Packages, Recall P/N C3905970, to service 25% of those vehicles.

Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE VIDEOTAPE
No videotape of the service procedure for this recall will be provided.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM):
1.
Remove air cleaner duct from PCM.
2.
Disconnect battery cables. Remove battery.
Note:
To ensure customer satisfaction, remember to record all radio settings before disconnecting the battery and to reset the electronic memory when you
have completed the service procedure.
3.
Disconnect the PCM 14- and 60-way electrical connectors.
4.
Remove and save the two PCM attaching screws. Remove the PCM and set aside for return to the Warranty Material Return Center.
5.
Connect the 14- and 60-way electrical connectors to the new PCM.
6.
Install the PCM and tighten the attaching screws securely.
7.
Reinstall the battery and connect the battery cables securely.
8.
Install the air cleaner duct to the PCM.
