From underneath the right front of the vehicle, locate the splash shield positioned below the water pump hose (see illustration).

Cut away a triangular section from the rear of the rubber shield (end of shield closest to the hose) as shown in the illustration.
4.
Inspect the water pump hose for possible damage. If there is visible wear of the hose from contact with the shield, the hose must be replaced. Refer
to the service manual for the hose replacement procedure. Re-use the drained coolant.
