Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) Replacement
Removal
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect negative (ground) cable from the battery and isolate cable.
Master Cylinder Fluid Level Sensor
2. Disconnect vehicle wiring harness connector from brake fluid level sensor at base of master cylinder brake fluid reservoir.

3. Disconnect primary and secondary brake tubes from master cylinder housing. Install plugs at brake tube outlets of master cylinder assembly.
4. Clean area where master cylinder attaches to booster using a suitable brake cleaner.
CAUTION: On ABS equipped vehicles, vacuum in power booster must be pumped down before removing master cylinder to prevent the booster
from sucking in any contamination. This can be done simply by pumping the brake pedal, with the engine not running, until a firm brake pedal is
achieved.
