Prowler V6-3.5L VIN G (1999)
Note: The outer CV joint needs to be pressed away from the knuckle for the required socket clearance when removing the hub/bearing mounting
bolts.
Caution: When pressing the stub shaft out of the hub/bearing, do not exceed the distance of one inch from rear surface of the knuckle. If the stub
shaft is pressed back further the driveshaft joints can be damaged.
Pressed Out Outer CV Joint
11. Using Puller, Special Tool 6790, partially press stub axle out of hub/bearing. Press stub axle out of hub bearing until rib on housing of outer CV
joint is one inch back from the rear surface of the knuckle.
12. Remove the 3 bolts mounting the hub/bearing and caliper adapter to the knuckle.
Note: The outer CV joint stub axle spline to hub bearing spline are an interference fit. They can not be separated by hand. Puller, Special Tool
6790 must be used to separate the hub bearing from the outer CV joint stub axle.
13. Using Puller, Special Tool 6790, continue pressing the hub/bearing off the stub shaft of the outer CV joint until the 2 pieces separate. Then
remove hub/bearing from outer CV joint and knuckle.
Park Brake Cable At Actuator
14. Remove park brake cable from park brake shoe actuator. The park brake shoe actuator is located at the rear of the caliper adapter.
