Wheel Fastener: Description and Operation

The wheel mounting studs are pressed into the wheel mounting flange of the rear hub. The studs are pressed in from the back side of the wheel mounting
flange and are held in place by a flange on the end of the wheel mounting stud.

If a wheel attaching stud needs to be replaced in the hub/bearing the studs CAN NOT be hammered out of the hub flange. If a stud is removed by
hammering it out of the hub flange, damage to the hub/bearing will occur leading to premature bearing failure.

Use the proper procedure and special tools shown when replacing the wheel attaching studs.

The hub and bearing assembly does not require removal from the steering knuckle or the rear knuckle to replace the wheel attaching studs in the
hub/bearing.
