21. Install Remover, Special Tool 6998, or equivalent between Special Tool, 6998-1, or equivalent and the upper ball joint stud.
CAUTION: Do not strike the steering knuckle or apply heat to the steering knuckle, when separating the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle.
22. Using a wrench, keep the section of special tool 6998, or equivalent that is against Special Tool 6998-1, or equivalent from rotating. Tighten the
threaded end of Remover, Special Tool 6998, or equivalent against the stud of the upper ball joint. This will press the lower ball joint stud out of
the steering knuckle.
23. Remove the Remover, Special Tool 6998, or equivalent from the steering knuckle. Remove the Nut, Special Tool 6998-1, or equivalent from the
upper ball joint stud.
24. Remove the steering knuckle from the control arms.
